Automakers recommend changing your transmission fluid at regular intervals. However, when to change a transmission filter is not always clear. This information will help you know when (or if) you should change your filter.
Transmissions are sealed devices that do not take in outside air or particles. Accordingly, their only purpose is to collect any metal shavings left over from the manufacturing process. In most cases, the number of shavings will be insignificant and should therefore not clog your filter.
You will need a filter change if you have a large number of particles or the filter itself has become damaged. If you’re unsure, allow our technicians to perform an inspection for you.
